Planning and Ecological
Services
 |
It is now a requirement in many planning matters for ecological
surveys / assessments to be conducted prior to, during and after completion of
the works. The range of scale of these works can vary considerably from small
scale home-owner improvements that may require just a bat survey, smaller
developments that may need an ecological assessment or biodiversity study right
through to large scale construction projects where a full ecological impact
assessment is required with the full range of habitat assessments, protected
species surveys, BREEAM assessments and ecological mitigation and compensation
measures. |
| Sheaf Ecology have experience in dealing with detailed planning
matters and our knowledge of land use planning, conservation and UK / EU
environmental policy, can provide developers with a clear insight into their
obligations. Planning policy and the management of ecological matters within
the survey, application and implementation phases, can provide developers with
specific challenges that can be difficult to manage. Sheaf Ecology have many
years experience within the field of planning ecology and can provide an
assertive presence and a positive influence in the negotiation of survey
requirements, validation criteria, planning conditions and the discharge of
those conditions |

Habitats Directive requirements such as screening assessments
with associated policy review, ecological survey and market research can be
undertaken for developers or potential developers needing to screen areas for
significant ecological constraints. For 'competent authorities' we can
undertake appropriate assessments. From a public sector perspective Sheaf
Ecology can provide Planning Departments with an ecologic review service for
development control, Habitats Regulations assessment of the Local Development
Framework, and direct input into the production of Supplementary Planning
Documents. |
If you require advice on any
stage of the planning process whether it be from prior to the submission of
planning documentation or have received requirements from the planning
department for ecological survey work, Sheaf Ecology can assist you through the
process and complete a wide range of ecological surveys, assessments and help
with planning matters. |
